A Second Chance For A Neglected Goat

On March 22nd, 2019 a Middle Island man was charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty for failing to provide proper sustenance including food, water, and veterinary care. After an anonymous tip, SPCA detectives discovered the malnourished, 2-year-old mini goat tied to a fence in the rear yard of the home with no food or water, and unable to reach the shelter due to the length of the rope. The goat was seized by the SPCA and turned over to the dedicated directors and volunteers of Second Chance Wildlife Rescue where he received immediate medical attention determining the condition of the goat was due to malnutrition, and dehydration. The goat has since been adopted and is happy and healthy living on a farm with other goats.

If you witnessed any act of animal cruelty, or have any information, please call the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722. All calls will be kept confidential.
