East Patchogue Man Charged With Animal Cruelty

On Monday, May 7, 2018 an East Patchogue man was charged with animal cruelty by Suffolk County SPCA detectives.

Suffolk County SPCA Officers responded to a call that a small dog was extremely matted and had been neglected.

Theodore Cochran, 69, of East Patchogue, was charged with one (1) count of failure to provide proper sustenance. The male Lhasa Apso mix, Chico, was transported to a local animal hospital for care where it was determined that in addition to the matting the dog was covered with excrement, ticks, overgrown nails and had a fever.  Chico was signed over to the Suffolk County SPCA.

Cochran is scheduled to appear in First District Court in Central Islip on July 9, 2018.

Chief Gross said that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in Suffolk County.  If you witness any incident of animal cruelty or neglect in Suffolk County please contact the Suffolk County SPCA at (631) 382-7722.  All calls will be kept confidential.
