Dean Murray, Assembly District 3
When you take your kids to the barber shop you have the confidence of knowing that the person shampooing and cutting their hair is a licensed professional. Why should it be any different when you take your pet to a groomer?
There have been too many reports of pets being injured or in some cases worse, when they were taken to a groomer who simply did not know what they were doing. We need to change that.
I will be working with several of my colleagues in the coming weeks to introduce legislation in the NYS Assembly that would require groomers to be certified and/or licensed before they can open their doors. We need to have the confidence that when we turn our beloved pets over to someone for services, they will be in the hands of professionals that know what they are doing.
