On July 19th, 2017 Velda Bailey pleaded guilty to one felony animal cruelty charge and one misdemeanor animal cruelty charge for failure to provide proper sustenance. One of the dogs died as a result of the neglect. She was charged on November 20, 2016.
This is an unfortunate, sad and preventable case that should not have occurred. The Suffolk County SPCA has a zero tolerance for animal cruelty. Please speak for those who cannot speak for themselves by contacting the Suffolk County SPCA at 631 382-7722.

The Suffolk County SPCA charged a Wyandanch woman with Animal Cruelty on November 20, 2016 after receiving a call from a rescue group. Veleda Bailey, 35, of 97 S. 27th Street, Wyandanch, was arrested for severe neglect of her dogs. One dog was deceased upon our arrival and the others were transported to a local Veterinary Hospital for evaluation. Bailey will appear in First District Court in Central Islip on January 30, 2017.
