SPCA Investigating Abandonment of Dog at LI Welcome Center

On Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at approximately 9:50 PM a male subject wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and shorts pulled into the Long Island Welcome center located on the Long Island Expressway (Exit 51) in Dix Hills driving a dark colored SUV (possibly a Chevy Tahoe ).  He removed 2 Australian Shepherd’s from the vehicle both wearing leashes and put into the dog pen located on the property.  He retrieved one of the dogs leaving one male dog abandoned with no food or water and never returned.

We can use the public’s help. The Suffolk County SPCA is highly motivated to find those who are responsible for this heinous act. The investigation continues as we follow up leads and conduct interviews. We urge anyone with information to contact the Suffolk County SPCA so that we are able to bring the individual(s) responsible for this blatant act of animal cruelty to swift justice.

All calls will be kept confidential. Anyone with information is asked to call the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722.

A criminal charge is an accusation.  A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
