Suffolk County SPCA Offers A $2,000 Reward – Info In Heinous Animal Neglect Case

The Suffolk County SPCA is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for tying a severely neglected dog with an oxygen tube to the front gate of the Smithtown Animal Shelter. Suffolk County SPCA Detectives are investigating this heinous act of animal cruelty. Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk County SPCA, said that on August 2, 2016 the agency received a call with details of how the dog was left at the shelter. The 14 years old male miniature poodle was emaciated and in critical condition, covered with fleas and the eyes were filled with discharge. The dog was transported to receive veterinary care.  The dog is anemic from the flea infestation and the eyes are being treated.

If anyone recognizes this dog, please contact the Suffolk County SPCA. We urge anyone with information to contact us so that we are able to bring the  individual(s) responsible for this blatant act of animal cruelty to justice.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722.  All calls will be kept confidential.
