Suffolk SPCA Seeks Help From The Public

The Suffolk County SPCA is seeking help from the public in the wake of the large seizure of birds from a residence in Huntington yesterday.

Chief Roy Gross of the Suffolk SPCA said that the agency was contacted with a report  that there were approximately 100 birds and also a 1 dog and 20 cats at 391 West Jericho Tpke., Huntington.  The agency responded with its resources of equipment and personnel and rescued 100 birds that were living in squalid conditions.  The dog and cats were taken to the Huntington Animal Shelter.

Gross said that the Suffolk County SPCA is in need of cash donations to care for the birds until permanent homes can be found for them and to help offset the cost of yesterday’s operation.  Also, “we would welcome donations of bird food and supplies to care for the birds,” Gross said.

Donations can be dropped off to the office of the Suffolk County SPCA, 725 Veteran’s Memorial Hwy., Building 16, Hauppauge, NY.  11788.

Especially now in this time of giving we need your help.  All donations are tax deductible to the extend permitted by law.

The Suffolk County SPCA , a 501(c)(3) not for profit, is funded only by donations.
