How can Bentley in the Gallery add 700 votes in a few hours? I can only vote once every other day and have all family and friends and co workers voting. Bentley is out of control!

Yea, Bentley went up another 600 votes in 1 day. Not fair for everyone else. They need to play fair. He needs to be disqualified!!!

As in so very many of these contests, I guess it depends on how many friends & co-workers you have, that you ask to vote, which results in the winner. Perhaps the management team at ‘Pet Lover’ should only do the voting. In any case, the animals pictured are all winners and very obviously loved and cared for.

Now, everyday when I go to work, everyb/ody there votes and they are getting all of their family and friends and friends families to vote. It’s like an entire community involved in voting.

I don’t understand the disqualification of Honey. The rules do not state anything about how many times someone can vote. If they did, that would be one thing, but they don’t. So, are you making up the rules on a daily basis and not letting anyone know what they are. How can you accuse someone of breaking the rules and cheating when there are no rules to break. Everytime I voted, it said thank for your vote and let me vote again. Honey should be reinstated and rules should be set forth. Then and only then if the rules are broken by anyone should there be disqualifications. If Bentley Gugliotti had not accumulated so many votes on such a short period of time, no one else would have ever thought of voting again. Come on what’s fair is fair. Very disappointed on how this is handled if Honey remains disqualified.

Thank you all for submitting your comments. We appreciate the feedback and the concern to keep the contest fair.
We have looked into the votes for the pets and have found that Honey was in fact cheating so this pet has been disqualified from the competition.
As for Bentley Gugliotti and Shelby GT, these are legitimate votes. They have been promoting there pets everyday on Facebook and Twitter and getting votes from their friends.
Thank you again and we hope you continue to enter the contest and enjoy our website!

    Hi Jennifer,

Please know that since the beginning of L.I. Pet Lover voting has always been a once a day per pet process with a button stating you cannot vote again until the next day. This is to give all pets a fair chance. If you did not get locked out of voting then someone was clearing the IP address to be used again or possibly running a program to allow multiple voting, as we recently had that problem in last months contest and had to disqualify a pet. We have never had an issue where someone could vote again after they have just voted, you can only vote once a day or else it would be unfair to everyone else. We did not receive any emails from family members questioning how the voting worked, if we had we would’ve replied explaining the process, I apologize that we did not receive them. The rules have been updated online with a clear description of voting once per day and will also be updated in the upcoming printed copy of the L.I. Pet Lover magazine.

I’m sorry but we cannot restore Honey to the contest as someone (not saying yourself) was clearly cheating. We have proof of that which is why we took Honey down.

Again I apologize that Honey can no longer be in the contest.

    Thank you very much,
    ~Corin

    Hello,
I have a question regarding the featured pet of the month contest. I want to send in a picture of my cat “Crash”, whom we saved from living out doors with no food, shelter or water. He was living in the back of an auto repair collision place, hence his name, “crash”. Anyway, I do not have access to a scanner, so can I mail in a photograph of him, so that he can be entered? Thank you for your time!

Yes, you can absolutely mail in pics of your pet. Please include a description as well about your pet, thanks very much!

Trying to vote for pet of the month via iPhone but there isn’t a “vote” button. Help!

    • Corin September 4, 2013 Reply

      Hi AJ,

We apologize for the confusion. We’re having a slight issue with the display of the VOTE button, hopefully will have that fixed shortly.
You can still vote though, if you click on the number shown that will take your vote.

      Thanks very much!

when neighbors let their dog’s out loose and the dogs poop all over neighbors lawns

Dog owners who put their dogs in their yards and allow them to bark endlessly all day long.

Fireworks and laws not enforced by the police who allow dangerous fireworks to be set off by just anyone, endangering neighbors, dry grass and wooded areas, and scaring the daylights out of pets.

I hate that people do not tag their pets. I stopped my car when I saw a dog walking by itself along Sunrise Highway. Worried he’d be hit, I checked for tags – none.
I put him in my car and brought him to a local vet to have him scanned, luckily he was chipped. I brought the dog home which was 20 minutes away from
where I found him. The owner was thankful and I lectured her on putting a tag on his collar. “But he never goes out. I let him in the yard for a few minutes and when I went to get him, the gate was open”. My point exactly – TAG YOUR PETS PEOPLE! They cannot tell people where they live.

My biggest pet peeve of all is definitely dog owners who do nothing to stop their dog’s bad behavior. I mean, I understand that it gets fatiguing trying to train your dog out of bad behavior, but when your dog is barking and snapping at another dog.. ya think you could, y’know, do something about it? Honestly, I can’t count how many times I have had to call off another dog at the dog park. I feel like I’m intruding, and I often get nasty looks from the owner, but what can you do when your dog is anxious and scared because another dog is harassing her? Ugh.. It makes both them and their dogs look bad!

My biggest pet peeve is people walking their dogs off leash. I had an amazing dog for 14 1/2 years who was friendly to people but very scared of dogs. Because he looked friendly, people would let their dog run right up to him and that’s where I had to create a body barrier between their dog and mine. This happened ALL the time. People need to be more responsible. Most days I really just wanted to take a nice relaxing walk with my best friend, but again had to deal with moron owners.
Now I have a 6 month old and enjoy taking my new pup and the baby in her stroller out for walks. Again we have owners who designate an open area for their big dogs to play off leash. When they see my dog they briefly start after us and then go back to their grassy area. Just leash your dogs and bring them to dog runs or fenced in areas to let them run free. I’m tired of watching our backs constantly.
